A cup of chocolate to prevent Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's is a disease caused by decreased brain function caused by gaps between nerve cells or synapses that can affect the health of nerve cells. Whereas healthy nerve cells are needed to release chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters which function as messengers in the brain. But this doesn't apply in the brains of people with Alzheimer's.

These synapses occur due to a build-up of harmful proteins in the brain.

Alzheimer's disease does sound dangerous and generally affects people aged a lot. But actually, you can prevent this disease from an early age. One way is to drink a cup of hot chocolate before bed.

These findings come from research conducted by researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. Researchers at this hospital found that cocoa is rich in polyphenols, an antioxidant that is effective in fighting the buildup of harmful proteins in the brain.

"We believe that our findings have broad implications for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Because in addition to being high in polyphenols, cocoa is also anti-inflammatory, which can reduce clot formation in the brain and restore damaged nerve cells," said Professor Giulio Pasinetti Maria, research leader.

He also added that drinking a cup of hot chocolate is the easiest, safest, and cheapest way to prevent Alzheimer's disease early on.
