Like sweet eating due to stress?

Do you know why you always eat chocolate, candy, or other sweet foods when you are stressed?

It turns out that according to a study as reported by indiatimes.com, stress hormones that are active when you are sad or upset increase your desire to eat foods with sweet tastes.

"Hormones known as glucocorticoids (GC) play a major role in increasing a person's appetite for sweet foods. This hormone is more active when you are stressed. Therefore, you tend to eat more sweet foods when you are stressed," said M. Rockwell Parker, a researcher in chemical ecology at the Monell Chemical Senses Center, Philadelphia.

He also suggested that you try to control stress so that the desire to eat excessively sweet foods does not arise. Because if left unchecked it can cause you to develop obesity and diabetes.

Apart from increasing the sweet taste sensor, this hormone is also sensitive to the taste of umami.
