Fat can disturb your sleep!

Have difficulty sleeping and often experience insomnia? It could be that the problem is not the coffee you drink during the day, or something else, but the fat that has accumulated in the body. A study unveils that losing weight can make a person sleep better.

Research conducted by researchers in Finland reveals that people who are obese or overweight usually experience sleep apnea. Sleep apnea causes people to have difficulty breathing and may even stop breathing for a few seconds and minutes. This can make sleep soundly or actually disrupt someone's sleep time.

Researchers also found that people who lost up to five per cent of their total body weight experienced improved sleep quality. They can sleep better, the tendency to snore is reduced, and they don't wake up frequently during the night, as reported by Men's Health (24/02).

Losing weight can also reduce the amount of fat that is in your throat when you are supine. This will make breathing easier, said lead researcher Henri Tuomilehto. Losing weight also reduces the chance of inflammation in the organ systems, which can help make breathing easier.

The results of this study were supported by another study in Brazil in 2013. The study found that people with an ideal BMI have better sleep quality and can sleep longer than people who are overweight. If you have been having trouble sleeping and sleeping poorly, you should watch your weight.

Losing weight can be one method to improve sleep quality, in addition to maintaining a diet. Besides being able to make you sleep soundly, maintaining your weight is also good for your health.
